Revenue Official Caught Red-Handed in Bribery Trap Operation in Bhilwara
The Anti-Corruption Bureau in Bhilwara arrested revenue official Lokesh Sharma during a sting operation for accepting a bribe of INR 1,000 related to inheritance mutation work. The accused was trapped at Chandawada Chowk following a complaint by Bhagwan Balai, after demanding illegal payment for official service clearance.
The case pertains to a demand for illegal gratification in exchange for processing a property inheritance mutation. The accused initially demanded INR 10,000 to facilitate the official work, which was later negotiated down to INR 8,000.
Acting on the complaint, the ACB team organized a sting operation at Chandawada Chowk, where Lokesh Sharma was caught red-handed immediately after he accepted the marked currency notes. The moment the money was placed in his pocket, the ACB officials moved in and detained him on the spot.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police Parasmal Panwar, who is leading the ongoing investigation. Following the arrest, the accused was taken to Kareda Police Station for detailed questioning.
In continuation of the probe, ACB teams also reached the residential premises and office of Lokesh Sharma to conduct searches and collect additional evidence related to the bribery allegations.
The incident highlights the persistent vigilance of anti-corruption agencies in curbing bribery within revenue administration and reinforcing accountability among public officials entrusted with citizen services.
